September 2021 Newsletter

Weekend Food Backpacks will resume the last week of the month. Each of our schools have increased the number of families to 15.

We are in the process of selecting dates for our next two room makeover recipients, A Very Special Place and Emma’s Place.

Josue has been in contact and is coordinating dates.

We are working on getting a start date for both our Literacy and STEAM zoom programs. Volunteers are at the ready and we hope be able to announce this soon.

Helen T. is coordinating a delivery of Halloween candy that will be shared among several of our community partners.
Zion Lutheran Church donated a large amount of school supplies which we immediately shared to schools not included in our original distribution.

Our annual dessert buffet, with entertainment is scheduled for the Canterbury House on December 8th.
Our participation as flag donor for a Veteran’s breakfast event is scheduled for early November.

Please look for our new Virtual BINGO flyer, attached at the end of this newsletter. The date has been changed to Thursday, November 4th at 7pm.
We will need your support to make this event a success. Please invite family and friends to participate.
If you cannot attend, please consider purchasing a 50/50 ticket to boost out fundraising efforts.

The winning ticket was purchased by Mike Kormanik. This months winnings of $300 will be given to the South Shore Community Food Pantry.

The winner donates to his/her favorite charity; it is not kept by the ticket holder.
To participate, go to our website and donate via Venmo or PayPal. We suggest putting $50 (for five months or $100 for 10 months).
THE NEXT ITEM FOR HOLIDAY GIVING IS FOR YOU ALL TO PUT TOGETHER A GIFT BASKET APPROPRIATE FOR KIDS, SENIORS, VETERANS, EVEN HOMELESS (THINKING ABOUT DOG FOOD). EVELYN STILL HAS DOZENS OF BASKETS AVAILABLE TO GIVE YOU TO FILL. WE ASK THAT THE CONTENTS BE NEW AND BE WORTH AT LEAST $25/BASKET. YOU CAN START BRINGING THE COMPLETED BASKETS IN MID-NOVEMBER….SO YOU HAVE TIME. PUT A LITTLE POST-IT ON EACH OF YOUR BASKETS TELLING WHICH GROUP TO DELIVER IT TO. THIS IS AN EASY, FUN PROJECT AND WE HOPE TO BE GIVING AWAY 100 BASKETS.
Zion Church called with an S.O.S. There is a homeless man that frequents their food pantry and he needed boots so we offered our RAOK to offset those costs.
